Don’t Miss the Important Stuff — Spotlight Your VIPs
Series: Inbox Relief — Post 2
Still basic — and still just using Outlook.
Once you filter out the noise, it’s time to make sure the signal gets through.
Because even one missed message — from your boss, a key client, or a make-or-break project — can throw your day off.
The good news? You don’t need fancy tools to fix this. These are built-in Outlook options — already on your desktop, just waiting to be used.
Use an Outlook Rule to spotlight VIPs:
Step 1: Create a rule for specific senders.
Step 2: Apply formatting — bold, red, category, star, or even a sound.
You can also:
- Route to a “Priority” folder
- Add a reminder flag
- Mark as high importance
These small tweaks keep the right people visible — even in a crowded inbox.
But if you’re just starting out, this kind of rule-based triage is a solid foundation. It’s not quite AI, but it’s a meaningful step toward it.
